About the Author

John A. Read’s journey into astronomy began with a small rickety telescope purchased at his local pharmacy. He was fascinated to observe the moon and Saturn with its rings using such meagre equipment.

He decided to encourage kids to share this experience and wrote his first book, 50 Things to See with a Small Telescope, an easy-to-understand beginner’s guide.

Since then, he has written many more books on space for young people including:

• 50 Things to See on the Moon
• 50 Animals That Have Been to Space
• 50 Space Missions That Changed the World
• 50 Things to Know about the International Space Station

John works as a telescope operator at the Burke-Gaffney Observatory.
